Class Descriptions:
Corrections and Sensing Hands – 9:00 – 10:30 am
This class will cover the entire 37 postures Tai Chi form as taught by Professor Cheng Man-ch’ing. Students must already know the choreography of the Tai Chi form.
The class will include a review of the “external” postures, as well as work on the “internal” underlying fundamentals of how movements happen in Tai Chi. In the Sensing Hands portion of the class students will work cooperatively, rather than competitively. Students will develop their ability to “listen” and “stick” to their partner’s movements, as well as detect “resistance” in their partner’s movements, as well as in their own.
Corrections & Sensing Hands / Beginner Sword Combination* – 9:00 – 11:30 am
This class will cover the entire 37 postures Tai Chi form as taught by Professor Cheng Man-ch’ing. Students must already know the choreography of the Tai Chi solo form.
The Corrections solo form part of this combination class will include a review of the “external” postures, as well as work on the “internal” underlying fundamentals of how movements happen in Tai Chi. Beginner Tai Chi Sword Form Part 1* – 10:30 – 11:30 am
The Beginner Sword portion of this class will teach the first section of the Yang Style Sword form as taught by Professor Cheng Man-ch’ing. The subsequent sections of the Yang style Sword form will be taught in the Summer and Fall semesters. Students registering for this class must know the entire Tai Chi solo form and be enrolled in a Corrections level solo form class.
